Coaching Apprenticeships

Learn to Coach with ESS

ESS is looking for three coaching apprentices!

We are offering 'on-the-job' training and regular mentoring sessions with squad coaches and the Head Coach, as well as a minimum of 50% funding towards the cost of an ASA accredited course leading to ASA Level 1 Award in Coaching Swimming. Apprentices will be required to shadow and assist a qualified ESS squad coach in the delivery of a minimum of one weekly session for a duration of 30 sessions on a voluntary basis.

For the right candidate, an extension of the apprenticeship to work towards the ASA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming will be available, subject to satisfactory performance and availability of club funds at the time of the Level 2 Apprenticeship application.

Applicants, who already have an ASA Level 1 Award in Teaching Aquatics and wish to apply will also be considered, but will need to complete the 30 voluntary coaching sessions. Initial club funding for those candidates will go towards an ASA accredited course leading to ASA Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming.

If you are aged 15+, a current or ex-competitive senior swimmer (minimum County level), who regularly trained with Regional Squad, Middlesex Squad or equivalent and would like to learn the ropes, please submit a brief statement (about 150 words), explaining why you think you are the right person for the job.

Applications close 7th March. Selected candidates will be invited to attend a brief interview.
